Grace and peace,
April was a great month in the life of the Saxman family! Doubly blessed, we were privileged to celebrate the birth of our granddaughter, Victoria Elise Delgrosso into the world as well as my grandmother’s 100th birthday. Two great accomplishments in the human life, and I was able to share the joy of both them less than two weeks apart. God is good!
We now have a five generation photograph that grants us the memorable joy of where we’ve been and the anticipatory elation of where we are going as a family.
As I pondered these things in my heart, I realized that we get to celebrate that same memorable joy, along with that same anticipatory elation as a family every week that we gather in the house of the Lord.
Oakland is a faith family that carries with it a great heritage in which, every week: We can see the memorable joy of a family dedicated to increasing it’s commitment to Christ. We celebrate a congregation that is increasingly devoted to discovering their gifts, learning the word of God, and finding a place serve.
We can see the memorable joy of a family dedicated to encouraging communion with God. We celebrate a wonderfully multi-generational family of faith who welcome their children into the worship service and loving teach them importance of worship.
We can see the memorable joy of a family dedicated to serving the community through faith.
We celebrate the “yes” that comes regularly from our congregation to help those in need. Whether it is donating thousands of dollars worth of aid to Operation Christmas Child, Imagine No Malaria, Camping Ministries, or fixing a person’s roof so that they can remain in their home, we hear the call of Christ and respond: “Here I Am, Send Me!” And the portrait of faith is made complete as our testimony serves to enlarge the Kingdom of God. Oakland UMC can anticipate the elation of congregation faithful to God and I am thankful!
Join us each week in worship and celebration of all that God is doing in our midst.
